Tony, Davey, and Me

2007

on a hot summer’s day

when the shade seemed to flee

this is the saga

of Tony, Davey, and me

people were drinking

in slow moving dance

music from the Allman’s

Colorado clouds enveloped a trance

Zydeco’s table

we sat on the front

gypsy’s wagon

made the horses grunt

a liquid afternoon

as Tony spoke

Davey stoop up

fires of summer waves

afternoon stoked

what a good time

as we listened and grew

music kept us thinking

the beer kept us new

the wicked and the ugly

the pretty and the young

they all jiggled strangely

nowhere men were sung

we will all recall

that giant jubilee

that was the saga of Tony, Davey, and me
